Shortened wingspan ?
She may have found a way to make a beautiful airplane look tacky.
This airplane has a long history. Used to be owned by legendary Clay Lacy, and hangared at Van Nuys, CA (KVNY) airport.

Oh call me crazy, but I love purple, and I can hear that boosted Merlin in my dreams, I've been to Reno a few times. Very nice photo!
Bland!
not my cup of tea....
At the National Championship Air Races… Great airplane, great pilot, great racing. Tacky? No, golf wear is tacky. Seriously, high visibility paint schemes are in good part a matter of more safety ie be seen. But hey, it’s the fastest motor sport on the planet, air racing. Modified wings, tail, engine, etc and perhaps the pilot can produce lap speeds of 500+ mph, fifty feet of the deck and within 50 feet or less from other aircraft on the Unlimited course with eight pylons and I think bright paint jobs just go with any racing in general.
A purple stubby winged P-51? This should be a crime.
The desecration of a beautiful classic aircraft.
P 51 regardless of model is a beautiful airplane.
