Very nice photo of a historic aircraft. The USAF version was the C-54 which was used during the Berlin Airlift after the separation of East and West Germany post WW-II.
Believe the USAF designation was C-118, the U.S Navy designation was R6D. The C-118 was too big to fly in/out of Tempelhof airport in Berlin, was C-47's and C-54's used during the Berlin Airlift. Cheers!
