BOEING 747SP (PWC744)

The 747SP was (perhsps a handful are still flying) a weird plane to look at. The only word I have used to describe it was "chubby". This was the first commercial aircraft to make the Hong Kong / San Francisco route nonstop back in the 70s, but I cannot remember whether it was Pan Am or United (or perhaps United purchased the Pan Am plane when Pan Am went belly up). Anyway, the curious point about that sector was that the SP could only do the eastbound flight nonstop, but not the westbound flight due to the winds.
