This was built as a C-47-DL for the USAAF in 1941. It arrived at Amberley (Qld) in January 1943 and was sold to the Dept Of Civil Aviation in July 1944.

It was converted to an airliner and registered VH-AER 30 January 1945. It went into service with Trans-Australia Airlines October 1946 and between then and February 1983 it served with many carriers, even recovered from a crash. It was sold to McDonalds in March 1983 ending up as a dining room at McDonalds West Lakes (outside a shopping centre).

It was sold to a person in South Australia in 2000 but its current status isn’t known.

For real?? A Mickey D's dining area?? Awesome!! Seeing this snap reminds of the Lockheed Constellation that was a restaurant up in Toronto. That one isn't there anymore. It was purchased (by Bob Bogash, I believe), dissassembled, trucked over the border to NY state, refurbished, trucked across country to the Museum of Flight in Washington State, reconstructed, and is now on display. I think it is wearing TCA paint now but not sure.
