That afternoon at Wynyard must have been 'peak hour'. DC-3 (C-47) VH-MMF was on the ground when this landed as well as TAA's F-27 VH-TQP.

Thanks Gavin for this shot of FNT in Wynyard. A nice example of an F27QC (Quick Change), pax to cargo and then back to pax. You can see that the small crew door is contained within the much larger cargo door which swung upwards forward of the portside prop. I just checked my logbook. The last time I crewed FNT was exactly 10 years after this November '74 photo, when I was Co-pilot on an all cargo run from SYD to Brisbane (2 hours). Then we flew back from BNE to Sydney taking 2 hours 5 minutes (at night dodging icing conditions). That flight was on Nov 15th 1984. Ansett 406 and Ansett 407 were the flight numbers. We would have been carrying approx 4 tons of cargo each way.

Thanks for that info Chris - always good to get a story.

Another nice memory Gavin-my first flight was from Melb to D'port an an Ansett F27 in 1970.

You're welcome Mike. My first ever flight was in an Ansett-ANA DC-3 sightseeing flight from Adelaide I think when I was 11 or 12 - thanks to my mum.
