McDonnell Douglas DC-10 (N105WA)

Anyone care to tell the story here? Sad sight...
15 June 1991 Mt. Pinatubo on the Island of Luzon in the Philippines erupted 20 miles away and this aircraft was waiting to leave and got caught up in the eruption. They did right the aircraft shoveling the sand(ash) off the tail but I never found out if it ever flew out.
Alan, thanks for sharing
Was able to find out that it flew again under United N1858U. Then transferred to New Zealand Air as T-255. Retired 2014.
Your info is wrong. T-255 was the original N105WA and went to the Netherlands Air Force (not the New Zealand Air Force) in 2004 after serving with World from 1978 to 1986 and United from 1986 to 2001.
Mt. Pinatubo erupted in 1991 and World Airways had another N105WA in operation at the time. That aircraft started it's life with Martinair Holland as PH-MBG in 1979. World Airways picked her up as N105WA in October 1988 and she was leased from CIT starting in November 1992 where it was leased to a number of airlines, including AVCOM, ChallengAir, TAESA twice, STAF Airlines and finally Cielos Del Peru where it finished it's life as a cargo carrier and was eventually scrapped.

Thanks for the historical comments below guys.
I love to see how such incredible machines have lived their lives and then meet the recycle/scrapyard.
Most seem to me made obsolete via more efficient engines on newer, more efficient airframes.
