A beautiful shot with incredible scenery. Brings home to you the size of those mountains

Easily a five-star shot! I've always wanted to go spotting in Juneau. Maybe someday when I have money I'll go on a whirlwind spotting tour of Alaska.

OMG!! This is indescribably awesome!! What a shot!! I second John M's comment and I salute you, James, for clicking a pic of gorgeous quality. Man oh man, I wish I could snap pics like this. 20 "stars." (And just imagine being on that ASA looking out the starboard windows. Unreal!!!)

An absolutely awesome photo - it really makes me want to be able to fly again without all of the Covid restrictions. Well done!

If that's not a publicity shot for the airline, it should be. How beautiful!

Occasionally, Alaska Air pilots will slide a little to the West and circle Denali on the Fairbanks/Anchorage flight. They always make two passes so both sides get a view. What a thrill. During Spring climbing season you can spot climbers on the slopes. Normally we see photos taken by passengers. This photo...I have no idea unless taken from another plane or a climber.

Good shot, nature and us together?

Ron Moore, the photo is taken from the ground. I'm about a half from the airstrip, with a 400mm lens. The mountains are about five miles behind the aircraft, but the compression effect of the telephoto visually "pushes" them together, making the mountains appear much closer. All of my Juneau photographs are taken from different places in the Mendenhall Wetlands, which wrap around the airport to the south. Mountains to the north and south provide the backdrops. (And, occasionally, the massive scale of older Sitka Spruce trees provide additional visual compression - a 200 foot tall tree in the distance can appear to be a 50 foot tree much closer in.)
