So sad to think it might be abandoned. Sad. But many planes are abandoned because fixing/updating them is far more expensive than they are worth.

I saw a 737 really cheap once. It was in a foreign country, and needed the most expensive service on the menu. I'm sure it wasn't able to be flown to a US facility to repair it. It was probably scrapped.
