For those unaware of history - Re-branding has indeed been employed in commercial aviation. After some spectacular accidents, the troubled DC-10 aircraft series was RE-BRANDED as MD-10, MD-11. Also, the final? derivative of the DC-9, MD-80, MD-90 product series became designated as a Boeing sibling, using the moniker Boeing 717.

Actually, accidents were not why any of those planes were "re-branded". Accidents had nothing to do with it. Study your history. The MD-10 is a DC-10 with a glass cockpit, and only with FedEx freighters. The MD-11 was a derivation of the DC-10 after McDonnel merged with Douglas Aircraft. The 717 was indeed a re-branding of the MD-95 to make it more "Boeing". There has been no MD-95/B717 accident.

Trump may be POTUS - but he's not in a position to govern a private enterprise.
