United asks FAA to investigate fees at its Newark hub

United Airlines is challenging how billions of dollars in "unreasonable" fees from Newark Liberty International Airport are spent on projects outside the airport and on firefighting overtime, according to a complaint filed Wednesday with the Federal Aviation Administration. I don't think it will matter if they find the fees illegally used or not. They signed a contract for that amount. They are not asking for a reduction in fees, although I figure if the finding is in their favor, that will be next.
