Virgin Australia VOZ100 inbound to New Zealand's Christchurch International Airport just after midnight local time on Monday 14 November (NZDT) carried out a precautionary missed approach after a major earthquake was shaking the airport and the city below whilst on final approach. "Earthquake Holding Fuel"...the TAF could have been for CAVOK and no ATC Holding likely for traffic this late at night either...luckily they had the fuel in the margin. Talk about Murphy's Law! ALL AIRLINE BEAN COUNTERS PLEASE TAKE NOTE!!!
