757s Being Cut from AA Fleet

Looks like AA is starting to retire 11 757s in the year of 2012 unfortunately. Taking on a big 737/A320 series order. What beats me is that I still see more fuel burning MD80s still running. I guess they are going to take out the 757 before scrapping their MD80 fleet. Nothing against MD80s though... (finance.yahoo.com) More...Unruly BA Pilot

Taking QF 26 takes 2 hours plus than taking Air New Zealand. Comparing the two, QF 26 takes bizarre routes over Honolulu and Fiji adding 700 miles and going over Tahiti adding 700 miles to the flight plan. 2 Air New Zealand flights complete the journey in 12.5 hours and QF 26 taking 14. Waste of fuel and time? Looking at the satellite, it looks fairly quite to the southeast of Hawaii, so what is the reason for the deviations? Is the A330 that much slower than the 777? Major airlines are phasing out small regional jets according to this recent article. Communities in the midwest will have to drive miles out of their way to Denver or Chicago, or other ares to major hubs. With this, there will be no more express flights serving South Dakota to Denver for example, so people from South Dakota will have to drive to Denver, in some cases the wrong direction to their destination. I recently flew on CO, and a new CEO speech was shown. Very interesting, it announced a new terminal B at Houston, more gates to be added in Chicago and upgraded airport lounges in its hubs. And that it will be installing Wifi, flat bed seats on all international flights and will upgrade its P.S 757 fleet. After reading UAs ranked number 1 for pax complaints, it looks like this new CEO has lots of promises for the new company and looks like we can expect better service.
