First why is Haley on Boeings Board of Directors, what does she know about Aerospace and Military issues, oh wait she facilitated the substandard Boeing factory to be sited in Charleston SC where there was very little aviation expertise. How is her unqualified board position any different than Hunter Biden’s board position with Burisma? The big difference is she was present when Boeing spent 43 Billion dollars buying back stock and rewarding incompetent management of which she was one.

Leave it to the BBC to come out with a straight forward article on this. Additionally, what kind of over educated psychotic mind comes up with MCAS (Maneuvering Augmentation Characteristics System) ? What could any normal person, including pilots, glean from those 4 words strung together much less understand the potential consequences of a malfunction in flight?

Very well said, I’ve been in Aviation both maintenance and piloting since the early 70’s. After the Lion Air crash when I saw the acronym MCAS then saw what the letters stood for, Maneuvering Characteristics Augmentation System I knew Boeing had jumped the shark. What kind of sociopathic mind comes up with that title for a system essential to safe operation of the aircraft, not to mention only one AOA sensor feeding the system and a disagreement light and AOA Indicator on the PFD’s being options carrying an extra charge.

Sea-Tac is a major international airport, how come I’ve heard no audio of his ground movements prior to and during take-off. You don’t just wander around taxiing the aircraft to the active runway, then take-off without some kind of reaction by airport ground and ATC personnel. He obviously knew how to operate the radios, knew that one of the comm’s transmit options had to be selected on the audio panel, knew enough about the Q400 to get it started and to be honest get it airborne “safely”. Did he know enough to state he was VFR hence no formal flight plan, does Horizon ever operate this way? I can’t believe even with some computer flight simulator games a ground grunt without an A&P or private pilots license could file an IFR flight plan and even if he could, wouldn’t Horizon have “canned” flight plans on file for their schedules and if a pop-up trip occurred the flight plan filing would come from the company dispatch office not some random employee of Horizon. I'm impressed the 380 got in there, I was at SWF yesterday working an aircraft I have responsibilities for. I left at 10:45 local time to drive 25 miles home which took me an hour 15 minutes, visibility and conditions were deteriorating rapidly, if I had known this plane was inbound I wouldn't have stayed to witness it as cool as that might have been.
