Smoke from the 100,000+ acre Caldor Fire southwest of Lake Tahoe and the 500,000+ acre Dixie Fire to the west was so thick that it almost obscures the airport terminal on the other side of the runway. Beyond the airport, the downtown structures and the Sierra Nevada are totally obscured.
