Horrible. I have several First Air 737 photos. I wonder which aircraft registration it was. Does anyone know?
Registration is C-GNWN, I believe
There have been a lot of crashes this year, so sad. ;(
Huge tragedy in such a small community. 12 killed , 3 survivors. Thank God for the men and women of the Canadian Armed Forces who responded or their might be no survivors. Heartfelt condolences go out to the families of the victims.
When the Russians and the Dutch made noises about boundaries, the Canadian Forces began a lot of summer "presence and sovereignty" deployments when I was on HMCS Preserver many years ago. We only went as far North as Baffin Island in August using Sea Kings with no TACAN or radar (pre-GPS). (This is ~840sm further north). Magnetic compass was totally useless with 90+ degrees of variation. Tides to access the rocky beaches were 30 feet so our boats were useless.
Truly memorable were the people and especially the mosquitoes which were huge and everywhere. Kids were all sick with broken teeth; lots of TB in all age groups. If you were to survive a crash there, you might not survive the mosquitoes that left eyelids and face swollen.
