Some are accusing the airline of not caring. The airline says many of the problems are out of its hands. (www.inc.com) More...

I would imagine there are plenty of temporary replacement aircraft in the various boneyards that are used for storage. If the MAX grounding continues beyond a few more weeks, it would be time for a few of them to be called up. How many 737s are included I wouldn't know. That is a downside to SWA's using only one airframe. As far as American, they can keep their venerable MD-80s flying a bit longer.

Out of their hands ? ? ? They can blame the Mechanics again . . .

I generally like SW and use them with some degree of regularity, but when the issue with e mechanics came up earlier this year and now the grounding of the Max's, I have moved them down with selecting American, only if there are no other viable options.
