Air Canada in Exclusive Talks to buy Air Transat

Submitted

Air Canada is in exclusive negotiations to buy the company that owns Air Transat, the two companies say. The proposed deal would value Transat at $13 per share, a 22 per cent premium from the $10.58 a share the company was valued at on Wednesday. At $13, Transat is being valued at roughly $520 million. This is a brilliant move by AIR CANADA. They just acknowledged that they are buying AIR TRANSAT. That means they are purchasing one of their major Caribbean competitors. That means AIR CANADA gets new routes, destinations for AC Holidays, new equipment, trained staff is always hard to find. If this deal goes through it will create jobs contrary to the paranoia outbreak. It will mean more destinations in the United States and Europe. The only potential problem might occur with the unions. That's normal in a major sale.
