Build their own by 2020? Hehehe. They might be able to build parts of the airframe. They do that now. A whole airframe? Not one that flies.

AND, you can forget about a jet engine. They have had their best two guys on it since 1947. So far Laurel & Hardy have not produced even a working prototype.

Besides, how many do you need to reverse engineer? 1? 3? 5? 60?

Says a lot for Airbus having a plant in country. Probably more to do with the trade balance than company.
