United follows Delta’s lead, allows you to opt out of middle-seat ‘upgrades’

Well, you might be able to avoid one on your next United flight as the carrier just expanded its seating preference options for standby travelers. Previously, you could only state your preference for an aisle or window seat. Now, you’ll find three new options in the United app when you’re on the standby or upgrade list for a given flight. If Congress is so eager to regulate something then they need to do the Following about all seating on all domestic Airlines and Foreign Airlines that fly in US Airspace.
1st No middle seats allowed on any airliner.
2nd All seating must have the dimensions and spacing of Business Class or 1st Class seating.
3rd Future seating must accommodate an average size Male of 6'4" and his shoulders must not touch the passenger next to him.
4th There must be a pair of armrest for every seat, No sharing of armrest.
5th no more reclining seats in coach or Econ Class and all fold down trays must accommodate a 15" Laptop with no overhang.
6th No more carry on luggage. Personal bags that can be carried on must be inspected and sized by the Airline Check in personnel all rejected bags will be placed in cargo hole. Note overhead storage is associated with a specific seat.
